  • Lamoureux family drives home a Toyota

    Lamoureux family drives home a Toyota

    Darren Lamoureux was the proud recipient of a 2015 Toyota Corolla on Jan. 13. at Sudbury’s Laking Toyota.

    The Ontario Toyota Dealers Association awarded the Sudbury family the car – along with $25,000 – through its Wishmaker campaign.

    The family’s infant son, Taylum, had to be airlifted to Toronto shortly after he was born because his kidneys were on the verge of failing.

    Since April 2013, Taylum and his mother, Désirée Lamoureux, have lived at Toronto’s Ronald McDonald House so he can be near the Hospital for Sick Children where he receives hemodialysis on a regular basis.

    As part of Scotiabank’s Stanley Cup Surprise and Delight campaign in support of kids community hockey in Canada, the young players were brought face to face with a very large, very shiny, and very recognizable cup.

    Scotiabank supports over 5,000 minor hockey teams in communities across Canada and this initiative is part of a national program that gives Canadian kids the chance to touch a piece of hockey history.
